CFL: Bombers re-sign Canadian Defensive Tackle Ryan Lucas

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced on Monday that the club has re-signed Canadian Defensive Tackle Ryan Lucas to their practice roster.

Ryan was signed back in April this year and was present at training camp and played in the Bombers’ final pre-season game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, recording one tackle. Continue reading

When the New York Giants take to the field Thursday night, it will be quarterback Eli Manning’s fifth game against the Carolina Panthers.

CFL: Joe Mack Should Stay as General Manager Through 2013

With the amount of public relations problems the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have suffered through this season—ultimately making them the punch line of the league—the one name that constantly comes up in discussions is General Manager Joe Mack.

Mack took over the club on January 22, 2010. He essentially took over a team that saw draft picks traded in exchange for players who ultimately failed to contribute. Continue reading

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers made their way back onto the field Monday morning for preparation for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday night.

CFL Week Two: Winnipeg Looks to Rebound in Montreal

The Friday night lights are on as the Canadian Football League hosts a double-header in week two between the Montreal Alouettes and Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and B.C. Lions.

CFL 2012: Welcome Back CFL!

Today marked the final game of the opening week for the Canadian Football League as the Calgary Stampeders defeated the Montreal Alouettes 38-10.

CFL 2012: The B.C. Lions Continue Where They Left Off A Season Ago

Entering Friday night’s game between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and B.C. Lions, the question on everyone’s mind was how would the relatively inexperienced offensive line would hold up against B.C.’s front seven.

That question was unfortunately quickly answered after quarterback Buck Pierce spent most of the half scrambling or unable to complete passes and allow plays to develop after the offensive line would quickly crumble. Continue reading

CFL 2012: Looking Ahead to Week One

The anticipation is over and the excitement has begun as the Canadian Football League returns tomorrow night in a double-header featuring both the Hamilton Tiger-Cats hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the defending Grey Cup champions B.C. Lions hosting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a Grey Cup rematch.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will kick off their regular season at home against Saskatchewan. Last season Hamilton split both meetings winning in week three in dominant fashion, only to have a reverse effect in game two, losing 19-3. Hamilton finished the season at 8-10, ahead of Toronto and went on to beat Montreal in the Semis, before losing to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Eastern Finals. Continue reading

CFL 2012: Winnipeg Finalizes Their Roster

With the end of training camp and pre-season and the regular season kicking off next Friday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers finalized their roster today.

Among the cuts that the club made were import defensive lineman Andre Caroll and Dorian Smith, import offensive lineman Shannon Boatman, import linebacker Clint Kent and Javon McKinnon as well as import wide receiver Paul Hubbard, import defensive end Brandon Akpunko and import defensive back David Pender.
