CFL 2012: Winnipeg Blue Bombers Training Camp Day Eight

There was no delay of practice today following yesterday’s storms. Today the Bombers were able to get through their entire practice regime without being disturbed.

The Blue and Gold welcomed back sophomore receiver Jade Etienne, who was away from camp battling an illness.

Running back Carl Volny was strapped in with a right knee brace and was seen working on the sidelines once again with safety Brady Browne. Their returns are imminent and could see the field as early as this week.

The Bombers had a few walking wounded today with undisclosed injuries including Alex Hall, Brandon Collier, Deon Beasley, Jeremy McGee, Marcellus Bowman, and Andre Douglas.

Paul Swiston filled in for Douglas at right tackle while Chris Kowalczuk continued taking center snaps. Several times the snaps were up high and in the quarterback’s faces.

Ryan Lucas was a little slow to get up after being piled on by a few offensive linemen during a drill segment but stayed in practice and should be good to go.

Dan West came away with an easy interception following a beautifully thrown ball by Joey Elliot. The quarterbacks sans Buck Pierce have tampered off a little the last few days while Pierce has been consistent through camp.

The players return to the field tomorrow morning at 8:20AM.
